Why digital ideas go wrong! Top reasons for ‘Discovery’ fails.
25 September @ 11:00 am - 11:45 am BST
FreeFinding the right idea for your product or business (often called ‘Discovery’) is hard!
Scott Colfer, an experienced product leader, takes you through the common fails and top tips for choosing the right ideas to pursue, based on a career’s worth of experience:
- Winning investment from funders that I could actually deliver on (why saying ‘no’ is hard but important)
- Helping other startups with their business model (including helping someone to stop their idea and move on)
- Teaching others how to build their business model (and find the common things people get wrong)
- Taking this knowledge to the public sector and leading ‘Discovery’ in Central Govt
- Supporting and reviewing 50+ Discoveries in a large organisation over 2-3 years (seeing why they fail and why they succeed)
- Building a business around helping people to aim at the right ideas
Your Host:
Scott Colfer is the Director of Product for Herd Consulting. Prior to this, he was Head of Product in Central Government and Local Government, introducing the public sector to agile practices learned in the commercial sector. As part of reviewing investment opportunities across a portfolio of £100s of millions of public money, Scott designed and introduced an effective approach to ‘Discovery’ that’s still used to this day. Scott has been leading, supporting and reviewing Discovery since 2010, helping organisations find the right idea at the right time.
This event is aimed at: Anyone looking for help to develop new digital ideas and opportunities (commercial, public sector, or non profit).
